Is a BMW i3 a good battery pack?
Having had a BMW i3 for 2 years, i knew it was an extremely well built pack and was rated for many years usage It needed to be able to charge fast enough to fill the 20 or 25kw into the battery in that time. The saving therefore comes from not using 25kw at 24p per kilowatt during the daytime.
Do I need a battery if I'm not getting solar?
If you are going on grid with solar, you must not mention the battery to the installer (or get an understanding one). Once its installed and certified, and the installer gone home, you can "slap on" your DIY battery. If you are not getting solar, then a good sparky will connect your sunsynk to the mains.
