The stations do not have the ability to charge flexibly or schedule charging; therefore, the charging typically occurs at the rated power of the station or the maximum charging power of the EV whichever is less. The initial dataset consists of 4,600 charging sessions.

How much ESS power is required for EV charging?

The corresponding ESS power ratings required to limit the power from the grid to 20% during the whole one-year period are from 19% to 66%. It can be seen in Fig. 5, Fig. 6 that there is a local minimum of the required ESS power at the PL value, which equals half of the highest EV charging power.
