What is the NSW solar battery rebate?
Save on solar battery costs and reduce your energy bills with the new NSW Solar Battery Rebate, launched on 1 November 2024. Under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), the NSW Government is helping households and businesses with rooftop solar systems unlock the full potential of their solar energy.
How much does a solar system rebate cost?
Eligible homes and businesses can receive a rebate between $1,600 and $2,400 off the upfront installation cost of a new solar system battery, depending on the size of the battery. Additionally, an incentive of $250 to $400 is available for connecting the battery to a VPP.
What is the federal solar battery rebate?
The Federal Solar Battery Rebate is a $2.3 billion subsidy scheme by the Australian Government, officially known as the Cheaper Home Battery Program. It is a nationwide solar battery incentive designed to accelerate battery adoption across Australia to reduce home battery installation costs by around 30%.
Can I claim the NSW battery installation rebate?
The NSW battery installation rebate is only available for new battery installations. However, if you already have a solar battery installed, you can still claim the VPP incentive by connecting your battery to a Virtual Power Plant, provided your battery meets the required technical and warranty standards.
Is the new Australian battery rebate a good idea?
The NSW government is no longer providing an upfront saving off new batteries. In place of that incentive, is the more generous, nationwide home battery rebate. The new Australian battery rebate provides greater savings than the initial NSW subsidy, so residents are far better off after the change.
What is the purpose of the NSW battery rebate?
Purpose: To encourage the integration of batteries into VPPs, allowing stored energy to be shared across the grid, improving stability and efficiency. The eligibility for the NSW battery rebate is quite broad which is beneficial for residents of NSW.
